I’ve always believed that the endgame of spatial computing is something close to the holodeck on Star Trek – computing that feels limitless, immersive, and completely natural. When we started building Android XR, we knew the early chapters of that story would require bulky headsets. That was the price of admission for the technology at the time. Today, you can see the transition to the next generation happening in real time. XREAL just officially launched XREAL AURA, the first wired XR glasses running Android XR. Because they’re dramatically lighter and more balanced than traditional headsets, they cross a critical barrier: you can comfortably keep them on for hours whether watching a movie or getting work done on multiple screens. I’ve been using a pair recently, and it changes how you think about screens: 🟢 For productivity: I can pull up multiple virtual windows in a public space without anyone seeing my work. It completely changes working on the go. 🟢 For entertainment & daily apps: Because it runs Android, all of your favorite Google Play apps are natively there alongside immersive XR content. 🟢 For everyday life: With Gemini integrated, the glasses understand what you're looking at and can give you hands-free, contextual help as you walk around. We wanted Android XR to be more than a cool tech demo – we wanted it to fit effortlessly into daily life. Today feels like a huge step in that direction. Proud of the Google and XREAL teams who pulled this off!

Google Play has always been more than a store—it’s a global community and a connected gaming ecosystem. 🎮 Over the past couple of weeks, our Google Play and Android teams brought both sides of that vision to life. First, we wrapped up our inaugural Play Fest, a marquee celebration that brought players, developers, and world-class brands together. From live community leagues alongside the global developers behind Free Fire, Angry Birds 2, and 8 Ball Pool to Play Points experiences with iconic partners like McLaren Racing, Samsung, and Razer, Play Fest showed how modern loyalty is shifting from passive points to active, shared culture. We kept that momentum rolling by launching our newest Google Play cross-device gaming campaign—built around a simple question: what if any time could be game time? For too long, playing your favorite titles meant being tied to a single piece of glass. By bringing a wave of beloved PC games into a unified Google Play experience, players can start a session on an Android phone, pick it right back up on our new Googlebook, immerse themselves on XR glasses, or dive deeper on a Windows PC. When ecosystems reward community and remove the friction between screens, everyone wins—players, developers, and partners alike. Huge kudos to our Google Play, Android, and marketing teams, along with all of our developer and brand partners, for turning bold ideas into back-to-back milestones for our community. Scams suck. And they are getting harder to detect every day. That’s why Android’s scam detection does more than just filter out obvious spam texts. When you opt into our new Enhanced Protection Mode in Google Messages, we’ll use Gemini models in our secure Private AI Compute space to analyze complex conversational patterns while keeping your data entirely encrypted and private. We also run Gemini Nano directly on your device to scan unfamiliar links in real time before you tap them, and automatically blackout sensitive fields like passwords and credit card screens if you happen to be sharing your screen. It’s one of the many ways we continue to help keep people safer on Android.

Our most recent Android Drop introduced Guided Vision in Gemini Live, bringing voice-forward, real-time visual interpretation. Built alongside the blind and low-vision community, Guided Vision can help you with everything from reading fine print and complex text to providing descriptive overviews of unfamiliar spaces, and it can even help guide you to reframe your camera if Gemini needs a better view to answer your questions. We’re happy to announce that it's now available on all compatible Android devices. To learn more about the technical aspects of Guided Vision, visit https://lnkd.in/eQXZfWnU

"I was lucky enough to be one of the first to experience Googlebook, and what surprised me most wasn’t just what I could create, but how much I enjoyed creating it. A little wiggle of the mouse brings Gemini right into my workflow. Ideas turn into visuals faster, experimentation feels more spontaneous, and I can keep creating without losing my flow. It reminded me how much more fun the creative process can be when technology works with your imagination instead of interrupting it." - Gizem Akdag Watch how Gizem Akdağ uses Magic Pointer and Flow on her Googlebook to transform her ideas into beautiful films. ✨
