Description

@unitycoder

would save time if can create new project from github url (clone and then create/open project),
or create new project, toggle create github repo, then it creates that repo for you.

TODO

  • add new UI for these features, in new project dialog
  • make it collapsible ui? so can keep it minimized, if not used (save state, if keep maximized)
  • github REST api, create repo
  • check how to fetch git repo from given url (if you already have repo that you want to use as base or as empty base)
  • github: add initial files to repo (or commit from local files easier?) *dont commit empty project, first want to clean it up
  • check if project name is available (that its not already used)
  • add settings toggles for git/github features
  • add PAT token support (if need to create or fetch private repos)
  • validate PAT token
  • save PAT token in some secure way? Windows Credential Manager
  • suggest repo name if already in use? (adds number or so..) *This should be separate field from projectname, if want to use different
  • visibility toggle: default private
  • checkbox git lfs checkbox
  • checkbox add unity .gitignore
  • checkbox add .gitattributes?
  • checkbox create initial commit?
  • repo description (no need usually)
  • branch name (no need usually)
  • check if git.exe is available in PATH
  • if version control is enabled, then expand the version control panel
  • add load/save settings for these controls
  • add setup panel for Token (if no token, display token input field and validate button, and button to create token in web)
  • add disconnect token (remove from secure storage)
  • disable version control, if no token found
  • display token setup panel if token fails? or settings button to setup token?
  • handle no internet connection?
  • open repo url after creation
  • lock dialog ui, while its creating repo and git files
  • make token field as pwd field
  • if git enabled, show create project button as "Create project + Repo" or so
  • include .gitignore and .gitattributes, so no need to download everytime
  • allow creating readme, gitattirbutes, gitignore, even if versioncontrol is off
  • save token username in same data.. otherwise not visible in another launcher instance

from unity hub, had automatic PAT token login somehow,
showing the private/public would be nice to see directly (hub has it under additional details)

    Hub

    PAT Token validation

    Check if repo already exists

    Clone Repo

    Commit to repo

    • add files, PUT /repos/{owner}/{repo}/contents/{path}
    • OR, just use git . add and commit..

i think would be nice to have separate button for Create and Create+Repo.. then no need to check that box everytime

    • separate button for creates

    • check if can select Org where the repo is created. *But: githup api returns all orgs that you are members of, it doesnt say which orgs you have rights to create repos..
